The goal of the SNCDSB project is a cross-curricular integration of the inquiry process by which the iPads are a tool to foster learning, engagement and discovery, with a focus on Social Studies and Science. Using specific apps, they will plan and select strategies to guide and implement inquiry. The iPads will allow teachers to monitor progress effectively and self-regulate appropriately. The iPads will help draw appropriate conclusion based on valid analysis, and reflect critically on their learning experiences and processes. This project will promote literacy and numeracy by allowing students opportunities to use iPads as a tool to differentiate for their learning. In the 3-part math lesson, for example, they can use an app to calculate numbers so students can still demonstrate their thinking through the process. For literacy, the speech to text apps will allow students to express their ideas without frustration in the spelling and writing, so teachers can assess their thinking.
