Impact on student learning through integration Learning Commons in elementary school
How can the implementation and use of a Learning Commons model in an elementary school promote cross panel integration of technology that will improve quality of learning and student achievement in mathematics for grade 7,8 and 9 students?
Durham Catholic DSB is beginning the implementation of a Learning Commons model in the district for secondary and elementary schools. The focus is on mathematics learning with a particular emphasis Grade 7,8 and 9 transition in achievement. The project plan is to develop strategies and tools that will support learning in mathematics and facilitate a cross panel transition that occurs as part of a process rather than an event. Students will work collaboratively between elementary schools and their shared feeder secondary schools to leverage the use of technology that will promote increased student engagement and improved quality of learning in mathematics.
The Durham Catholic board improvement plan focuses on instruction in mathematics across all grades to increase engagement and improve the quality of learning.
